The 2017 is the fourth year Maserati and its polo apparel partner, La Martina, have hosted a global polo tour, with the UK match being the third of five matches on the calendar. The 2017 season spans nine months, covering two global continents.

To celebrate the prestigious tournament, La Martina has designed a luxurious and completely unique polo shirt worn by the Maserati Team players. Made from 100% pure Italian silk from the region of Como, only four of these shirts have been made– one for each player on the Maserati team.

Alongside the exclusive shirts worn by Team Maserati, La Martina has produced a special Beaufort Edition polo shirt which has been released to celebrate the UK leg of the Maserati Polo tour. The shirt features La Martina and Maserati logos embroidered in a Lurex thread, with a textured Union Jack flag printed in an iridescent gun metal effect on the front.

Peter Denton, Region Manager Maserati North Europe, commented: “We’re delighted to be back at Beaufort Polo Club for the second year, celebrating another thrilling leg in our annual International Polo Tour. The power and agility displayed in today’s match encapsulates the spirit of our cars; none more so than the Levante SUV which is the perfect partner in equestrian lifestyle.”

THE MUMMY

Love and Fear:
The Original Monster Is Reborn

Frankenstein’s Monster. Creature from the Black Lagoon. The Wolf Man. The Invisible Man. The Mummy.

Those are but a few of the names of Universal Pictures’ iconic monsters from days past and present that conjure up unforgettably haunting cinematic images…ones that stay with us for a lifetime.

For almost a century, audiences have been drawn to the monster characters for many reasons. Not only do these super-humans straddle the fine line between life and death, there is such allure to the power of creatures who are capable of so much more than we dare imagine for ourselves. Truly, we empathize with their deep struggle between dark and light.

Curiously, our fascination with monsters has a fittingly cinematic beginning. Although explorers had excavated the majority of mummified Egyptian royalty by the time that British archaeologists Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon unearthed a boy king called Tutankhamen in 1922, it was this discovery that coincided with an explosion of global entertainment. Initially, the subject matter riveted worldwide audiences in traveling museum shows throughout the decade. But none could imagine what would happen when, one year later, in 1923, the talking motion picture (“talkie”) was introduced and began shifting the silence in movie theaters across the world.

Nor, could audiences know the depth of cinematic terror to come until Boris Karloff, the man they had seen the year prior as Frankenstein’s Monster, emerge on the screen as the first theatrical Mummy, Imhotep, in Karl Freund’s 1932 masterpiece for Universal Studios. Screams of terror that could only be guessed at a decade earlier were now filling up theaters, heard both on screen and from the audience.

Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy.
Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
Cruise is joined by a cast including Annabelle Wallis (upcoming King Arthur, television’s Peaky Blinders), Jake Johnson (Jurassic World), Courtney B. Vance (TV’s American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson), Marwan Kenzari (The Promise) and Oscar winner Russell Crowe (Gladiator).

The creative team on this action-adventure event is led by director/producer Alex Kurtzman and producer Chris Morgan, who have been instrumental in growing some of the most successful franchises of the past several years—with Kurtzman writing or producing entries in the Transformers, Star Trek and Mission: Impossible series, and Morgan being the narrative engineer of the Fast & Furious saga as it has experienced explosive growth from its third chapter on. Sean Daniel, who produced the most recent Mummy trilogy, and Sarah Bradshaw (Maleficent) produce alongside Kurtzman and Morgan.

The guests partied the night away to the fresh music of local influencer DJ Julian Smith and enjoyed the Italian glamour.

The boutique incorporates Roman marble-inspired designs onto the high-profile shopping locale, to interplay between old and new, between ancient tradition and contemporary design. Drawing on Bulgari’s Mediterranean origins, Marino’s design concept emphasised Italian classicism while respectfully interpreting it within local German architecture.

Twenty outstanding young people, from across the world, was at the Inaugural Legacy Award by The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry at St James’s Palace in London

All the Legacy Award winners – who come from the UK, USA, Canada, India, Belize and UAE – have had a monumental impact on society. Many of them only know Princess Diana as a historical figure but they carry the honour of the Diana Award with pride and admiration for whose memory it was set up in.

Tessy Ojo, Chief Executive, The Diana Award says: “This is a landmark event for The Diana Award as we join The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry in celebrating the legacy of Diana, Princess of Wales in this 20th anniversary year.”

The winners were selected from a poll of nominations by an independent judging panel chaired by Dame Julia Cleverdon, Founder of Step Up To Serve. The panel included; Julia Samuel, Patron of Child Bereavement UK and friend of Princess Diana and campaigner Baroness Lawrence OBE.

Julia Samuel, Patron of Child Bereavement UK and friend of Princess Diana says: “The twenty Legacy Award winners are truly inspirational- often coming from extremely difficult circumstances. It left me feeling profoundly hopeful for our future knowing these young people will be part of that future and our future leaders.”

About The Diana Award

The Diana Award is the longest running award for young people that is given to individuals and groups through a retrospective nomination process only. We believe this is special: young people do not work towards our award, rather they demonstrate their suitability through their actions, without expectation of reward. We believe this makes The Diana Award unique and the reason why young people form a deep connection to the award.

The Diana Award invests in developing young people through four key programmes

Our flagship Award – the Diana Award, continues to shine a spotlight on outstanding young people through a retrospective nomination process.

Our peer-led Anti-Bullying Campaign, enables young people to change the attitudes, behaviours and culture of bullying both offline and online through a multifaceted approach.

Our structured Mentoring Programme builds resilience and character for the most vulnerable young people in our society, helping them gain key competencies needed to navigate life successfully.

Our Inspire Series Programme, supports and enables young people to take positive action in their communities, helping them build leadership skills.

Over the next five years, we want to go further. Our aspiration is that the 11,000 hours that young people spend in full time education, are safe and bully-free hours, that young people have the tools, skills and competencies to effectively cope with, bounce back from and challenge bullying behaviour in their schools.

During this 20th Anniversary year The Diana Award is actively seeking supporters to help the charity continue this youth legacy, in memory of Princess Diana, and expand their work that fosters change through positive action with young people.
